This web site has been created to provide information about
the property to those interested in preventing its demolition.
We have also provided a way for interested individuals to
express their interest in this preservation effort or to request
information.
In the weeks that follow, specific contact and procedural
information will be added to guide individuals interested
in helping to save the Mansion. Currently, information is
being gathered and renovation/preservation specialists are
being contacted .Decisions to destroy historic structures
are often made based on incomplete or incorrect information.
Experienced preservationists are well aware of the types of
information which can lead to unfortunate and irreversible
actions.
Those individuals who have enjoyed the Fox, Grant Mansion,
The Craigie House (DAR Building), Randolph-Lucas House, Fulton
Bag and Cotton Mill, Margaret Mitchell House
The Georgian Terrace, Carriage Works, King Plow Arts Center,
1901 Bank of America Building, 1924 Rich’s Building
should also know that for each of them, there were those who
strongly believed that the time had come to "let go"
and build new.
Fortunately there were also those who believed that there
was value in preserving the past for the benefit of future
generations. We hope that you will join us and help preserve
The Mansion.
Historic preservation is the practice of recognizing, protecting,
using and appreciating our nation’s diverse cultural
resources so that generations to come may benefit from them.
As temporary tenants of this world , it is our responsibility
to preserve the beautiful and majestic creations of those
before us and to protect, preserve and contribute to that
beauty for those who come after us.
Your help is needed to preserve the Fischer Mansion for the
enjoyment of future generations. |
